Jamshedpur: Social worker Mukhtar Alam Khan has been unanimously appointed as the Vice President of the Jamshedpur Basketball Association (JBA), in a move aimed at strengthening the sport in the city.
The decision was taken during a key meeting held at La Gravity, which was presided over by J.P. Singh, Honorary Secretary of the Jharkhand Basketball Association and an international coach. The proceedings were conducted by Association Secretary M.D. Arif Aftab.
The meeting focused on promoting basketball, encouraging greater participation among youth, and improving sports infrastructure in Jamshedpur. Members expressed confidence that Mukhtar Alam Khan’s appointment will bring fresh energy to the association and help expand its activities.
Khan attended the meeting along with his team from the Human Welfare Trust. Following the announcement, several dignitaries, including Syed Asif Akhtar, Shahid Parvez, Dr. Tahir Hussain, and Sohail Akhtar Ansari, congratulated him and extended their best wishes.
Other members present at the meeting included Mohammad Jalal, Sheikh Azhar Khan, Supriya Karan, Vishal, Deepak, Rahul, and Arhan.
Participants expressed hope that the new leadership will boost basketball in the city, create better opportunities for young players, and increase the sport’s popularity in the region.
