Jamshedpur, April 13: Amid an intensifying spell of extreme heat and scorching conditions across the district, demands are mounting for an urgent revision of school timings to safeguard students’ health.
Ankit Anand, founder of Shiksha Satyagraha, has raised the issue in the public interest, urging authorities to implement morning schedules for schools across all categories. Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he tagged Chief Minister Hemant Soren and East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, seeking immediate intervention.
Highlighting the severity of the situation, Anand pointed out that even court timings have been shifted to early hours due to the heatwave, and similar consideration must be extended to schoolchildren. He warned that conducting classes during peak afternoon hours exposes students to serious health risks, including dehydration and heat stroke.
Appealing to the administration, he emphasized that student well-being must take precedence, calling for swift action to transition schools to morning shifts and provide much-needed relief during the ongoing heatwave.
