Ranchi: Former BJP State President and Rajya Sabha Member, Deepak Prakash, have penned a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, appealing for the declaration of January 22 as a ‘dry day’ in Jharkhand. In his letter, MP Deepak Prakash specifically requests the government to impose a ban on the sale of liquor and meat across the state on this particular date.
The basis for this plea is the upcoming grand program of Ramlala Pran Pratishtha scheduled in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. Deepak Prakash highlights the significance of Lord Shri Ram, revered as an ideal man and Maryada Purushottam, whose life and teachings are celebrated. Lord Shri Ram’s adherence to truth, mercy, compassion, religion, and dignity is emphasized, making him a revered figure in cultural and moral contexts.
Drawing parallels with the neighboring states of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where January 22 is declared as a ‘dry day’ with a ban on the sale of liquor and meat, MP Deepak Prakash urges a similar measure in Jharkhand. The proposal seeks to align the state with the cultural and traditional values associated with the celebration of Lord Shri Ram’s life.
