Clean chit for DG Anurag Gupta and Ajay Kumar in Horse Trading Case

Ranchi: In a significant development, DG Anurag Gupta and Ajay Kumar, the political advisor to the then Chief Minister Raghubar Das, have been granted a clean chit in the long-pending horse trading case. The case was registered in March 2018 at Jagannathpur police station based on a complaint filed by the Additional Secretary of the Home Department.

The investigation into this case extended over a span of more than five years, during which no conclusive evidence was unearthed by the police. Last month, the Ranchi Police sought the opinion of the Advocate General on the matter, and subsequently, due to a lack of substantial evidence, the case was closed. The closure order was issued by the City SP to the investigating officer handling the case.

It’s worth noting that an FIR was originally filed in Jagannathpur police station concerning the horse trading case, and a departmental investigation was concurrently conducted against the accused ADG Anurag Gupta. The departmental inquiry concluded in September 2021, with the Operations Officer DG MV Rao submitting a final report to the state government on September 30, 2021. The report revealed no concrete evidence against ADG Anurag Gupta, leading to his exoneration in the case.
