Jamshedpur, April 30: The Asmita City League 2026 concluded on Wednesday with an exciting Kabaddi competition held at Guru Jat Sangh Sonari under the aegis of the District Administration (Sports Wing), East Singhbhum. Organised in alignment with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Khelo India initiative, the event saw participation from 10 teams, comprising around 140 girls.
In the Under-17 category, Dayanand Public School, Jamshedpur secured the first position, followed by Kerala Public School, Jamshedpur in second place, while Vivek Vidyalaya, Jamshedpur finished third. In the Above-17 category, Guru Jat Sangh, Sonari emerged as winners, with Ghatshila securing second position and Jamshedpur Women’s University finishing third.
District Sports Officer Rupa Rani Tirkey and members of various sports associations felicitated the winners and encouraged participants to continue pursuing sports with dedication. They highlighted the importance of such events in nurturing young talent.
The Asmita City League aims to empower girls, promote grassroots sports, and encourage greater participation of women in athletics, while also spreading the message of fitness and healthy living through initiatives like Khelo India and Fit India.
