Jamshedpur: In a major crackdown on vehicle thefts, Sakchi Police have apprehended four members of a notorious gang responsible for stealing motorcycles from various locations within the jurisdiction of Sakchi Police Station. Acting on detailed information, the police successfully recovered five stolen motorcycles from different locations. The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody.
The gang’s arrest followed a thorough investigation initiated by the Sakchi Police after a noticeable increase in motorcycle thefts was reported over the past few months. Officers had intensified their surveillance and patrolling efforts, focusing on areas frequently targeted by the gang.
On receiving a tip-off about the whereabouts of the suspects, a team led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar conducted raids at multiple locations. The police managed to nab the gang members without any resistance. During the interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple motorcycle thefts across the city. Based on their information, the police recovered five stolen motorcycles, providing much-needed relief to the affected owners.
SP Rishab Garg, speaking at a press conference, stated, “This operation marks a significant victory in our fight against vehicle thefts. The arrested individuals are part of a well-organized gang that has been a menace to the city’s residents. We will continue our efforts to dismantle such criminal networks and ensure the safety and security of the public.”
Preliminary investigations reveal that the gang had a well-coordinated modus operandi. They primarily targeted motorcycles parked in less secure areas, often using duplicate keys and other tools to swiftly steal the vehicles. Once stolen, the motorcycles were either sold in parts or transported to different states to evade detection.
The police are now expanding their investigation to trace any further connections and recover more stolen motorcycles. They are also working on identifying potential buyers and other accomplices who may have been involved in the gang’s operations. This arrest has led to increased vigilance and cooperation among various police stations in the city.
In addition to the arrests, the police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately. They have also advised motorcycle owners to use additional security measures, such as wheel locks and alarms, to deter thieves.
