Jamshedpur, Aug. 19: A woman made a bid to end her life after her son was allegedly forced to resign from a call centre in Mango where he was posted as a manager .
The woman, Nirmala Shukla (60) consumed several sleeping pills around mid-night, leading her son, Vipul Shukla to rush her to the MGM Medical College and Hospital’s emergency, where she is struggling for her life. The call-centre is Aegis Ltd, having its branch office at Hessar House on Dimna Chowk in Mango.
A resident of Ashiana Enclave in Mango, Vipul (36), claimed that his mother was wretched after he was forced to resign on July 20 on the basis of some complaint against him.
“I the only bread earner of my family, but now left with no options. Considering the financial condition, my mother had gone to the head of Human Resources, Aegis Ltd, Vishal Anand on July 25 and requested him to reconsider his step, but Anand insulted her.
Ever since that day, my mother was lying depressed and ultimately in the wee hours today, she tried to commit suicide,” Vipul who is father of two children said.
Vipul, said there was a difference with the HR head, Vishal Anand and the latter had forced him to resign because of that dispute which was due to his poor financial condition.
“I had borrowed money from some of my subordinates in the office, and when Anand could know about it he made those who paid me the loan to give written statement on the matter.
On the basis of the written statement made by three or four officials, he forced me to sign on a resignation letter on July 20,” Vipul said.
An assistant sub-inspector of police posted at the MGM Meedical College and Hospital confirmed that Nirmala Shukla had been brought here early morning today for treatment.
“It was a case of poisoning. We had gone to take a statement of the woman, but she was not in a condition to speak. We will take the statement when she will recover from the illness,” said the police officer.
Meanwhile, HR Head, Aegis Ltd, Vishal Anand, said he had never forced Vipul to resign.
He said there was several complaint against Vipul related to borrowing money from his colleagues for which he had warned him twice. He said after receiving the final warning, he had resigned himself.
