Jamshedpur, Jan. 31: Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) held an awareness programme on digital payments in a bid to promote a cashless economy post demonetisation.

The students were informed about online applications which are used for making payments, Internet banking and the also informed them about the pros and cons of digital payments.

Class IX Students of the school attended a session by S.K Mitra retd. General Manager, Bank of Baroda. The session was on how to manage finances.

The 1.5 hrs session gave students information and guidelines on increasing need for digital money in view of demonetization.

Mr. S.K Mitra conducted this enriching session at the behest of the NISM (National Institute of Securities Marketing) which is conducting the �Financial Education Week� under guidelines of the govt. for promoting financial education.
In the words of Pragati of class IX who attended the workshop, �the session made us aware of simple steps to make positive difference to our financial needs.�

To make India less reliant on hard currencies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people to use debit cards and other digital payments while purchasing essential items.
