Jamshedpur: In an effort to combat the spread of dengue, the Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) has intensified its dengue larva testing drive, leading to the collection of fines from residents failing to maintain proper hygiene standards. During a recent inspection, the corporation imposed fines totaling Rs 2500 on five individuals found to be harboring mosquito breeding sites on their properties.
The drive, conducted under the directive of the District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, aims to identify and eliminate potential breeding grounds for dengue-carrying mosquitoes. Health officials and municipal workers have been visiting various localities to check for stagnant water and other common sites where mosquito larvae thrive.
During the inspections, the team discovered that several residents were neglecting basic preventive measures, resulting in the accumulation of stagnant water in containers, coolers, and other areas. The fines were levied as a part of the corporation’s strict enforcement policy to ensure public health and safety.
