Jamshedpur, Feb 22: The auditorium at MGM Medical College, initially constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 4 crore, has fallen into a state of disrepair without being utilized. Steps to enhance the auditorium’s condition have been reinitiated at MGM College. The National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Assembly Committee have mandated the immediate restoration of the auditorium. The absence of a functional auditorium has posed challenges in conducting medical seminars and other programs at the college.

To address this issue, Dr. KN Singh, Principal of MGM Medical College, has prepared an estimate for the auditorium’s repair and forwarded it to the State Health Headquarters. The renovation is anticipated to cost more than three crore rupees. The auditorium, built in 2016, suffered damage to the shed due to rainwater, causing issues such as falling false ceilings, jammed doors, and damaged chairs. The NMC identified these problems during a surprise inspection, prompting the Assembly Committee to instruct immediate repairs.

Experts emphasize that a delayed restart of the auditorium’s operations may lead to a reduction in medical seats at MGM College. Dr. KN Singh, the Principal, confirmed that a survey of the auditorium has been conducted, and with the allocation of funds, the renovation work will commence.
