Jamshedpur, Aug. 30 : A team of Jharkhand State Commission for Women on Wednesday inspected MGM Medical College and Hospital following deaths of infants at the hospital from past two months.
Led by chairperson, KalyaniSharan, the team inspected women�s ward and said that lack of doctors at the hospital is a matter of great concern and steps need to be taken to provide better services at the hospital.
She also convened meeting with the superintendent of MGM BhartenduBhushan. Sharan said that the superintendent has failed to give any satisfactory answer to the queries.
The superintendent said that in July, 141 babies were admitted to MGM hospital. Among them, 60 including 52 newborns (less than 28 days old) died.
But, they saved the remaining 81. Similarly, in August so far, 33 newborns out of 106 have died, but 73 have also been saved. Yesterday, five more premature and underweight newborns have been admitted.
Jharkhand Human Rights Conference, the nonprofit had first raised up the infant deaths.
