Brown sugar peddler arrested in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 8: In a major anti-narcotics operation under the ongoing Operation Prahar, East Singhbhum police arrested a suspected drug peddler from the Mango area and recovered 38 packets of brown sugar from his possession.
According to police, senior officers received confidential information that a group of youths had assembled near an open field behind Sindhu Kanu Residential School in Reet Colony under the Olidih police station area for the sale and purchase of illegal narcotics.
Acting on the tip-off, a special raiding team was constituted under the supervision of City SP and led by Patamda Deputy Superintendent of Police Dayanand Kumar.
During the raid, police apprehended one suspect and recovered 38 packets of brown sugar weighing 3.71 grams. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused allegedly procured the contraband from the Kapali area for local distribution.
The arrested individual has been identified as Sandeep Kumar Pandey (26), a resident of Tamolia near Xavier School in the Kapali police station area of Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Police also seized his wallet containing identification documents and other papers.
A case has been registered at Olidih police station under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply network and identify other persons involved in the illegal trade.
The raid team included DSP Dayanand Kumar, Olidih police station in-charge Shariq Ali, Sub-Inspectors Ravindra Pandey, Abhishek Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Akhilesh Prasad, and reserve force personnel.
