Jamshedpur, June 13: The scorching heatwave continued to torment residents of Jamshedpur and surrounding areas, with temperatures soaring on Thursday. Cloud cover provided little respite as the maximum temperature in Jamshedpur reached 44.2 degrees Celsius, aggravating the discomfort level.

According to the Meteorological Department, relief from the relentless heatwave is not expected until the arrival of the monsoon, forecasted around June 16 and 17. Dr. Abhishek Anand, a meteorologist at the Ranchi Center, stated that although some districts may experience drizzles, significant relief is unlikely until the onset of monsoon.

Daltonganj recorded the highest temperature at 46.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday, adding to the oppressive conditions. The weather forecast indicates a red alert for heatwave in five districts, including Palamu, Garhwa, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela Kharsawan, while nine districts are under an orange alert. Additionally, cautionary measures have been advised for areas under a yellow alert.

Residents have been urged to take necessary precautions to mitigate the effects of the ongoing heatwave until the anticipated arrival of the monsoon brings relief.
