Jamshedpur, July 13: Acting on a tip-off, Police on Wednesday raided a Matka den and arrested the operator along with four others from near Milan hotel in Gudri Bazar under Bagbera Police Station at 2.30 pm in the afternoon.
Two police teams led by deputy superintendent of police (Law and Order) Bimal Kumar and Bagbera Police station in-charge Jitendra Kumar Thakur busted the Matka den and recovered cash Rs 1880, One Matka sheet, 6 packets Matka ticket, 3 mobile phone and two packets of bidi.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday evening, DSP (Law and Order) Bimal Kumar said, SSP Anoop T Mathew received information that notorious Matka operator Ranjit Jha alias Ranjit Sahu has again started the Matka den in Baghbera which was shut for quite a while.
Acting on the same, SSP ordered formation of two special teams led by DSP (Law and Order) Bimal Kumar and Bagbera Police station in-charge Jitendra Kumar Thakur.
‘The teams raided a temporary shed under a tree at 2.30 found the several people being part of the Matka.
Soon Ranjit Sahu and others tried to flee but the police force arrested red handed playing Matka Ranjit Sahu alias Ranjit Jha son of Ramdhari Sahu, Jhunka Sao son of Sopi Sao resident of Gudri market, Vishnu Rai son of Shyam Lal Rai resident of Gudri market, Makardhwaj Mukhi son of Laxman Mukhi resident of Railway High School, Topra Sao son of Kishan Sao resident of Gudri market under Bagbera Police Station’, added DSP.
