Ranchi: Former chief minister and president of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) Babulal Marandi Wednesday demanded a CBI probe into the illegal coal mining in the state.
A JVM-P delegation, led by Marandi, met Governor Syed Ahmed at Raj Bhavan here Wednesday.
“Illegal mining is taking place on a large scale. It cannot go on without the involvement of senior officials. We demand CBI probe into the illegal mining in the state,” Marandi said after meeting the governor.
Marandi also demanded a high-level probe into the recent decisions taken by the state government during the just-held Lok Sabha elections.
“Some recent decisions of the state government raise doubts and these should not be allowed to be implemented. We have objections regarding the state government move like franchisee system in power distribution and allotment of mining lease licences to mining companies,” said Marandi.
He termed the decisions anti-people and taken to please some corporate houses.
Marandi said the corrupt officials and ministers should not be allowed to run the government according to their whim and fancy. Instead such persons should be made accountable to their actions whenever necessary, he said.
The JVM had recently announced its decision to approach the governor to raise various issues of the state and ask him to intervene and improve the situation.
