Jamshedpur, July 12: The CPI-Maoist rebels blew a dozen buildings, including a forest guest-house at Barkela and set about 20 vehicles, including two-wheelers on fire during the six-hour violence that started from 10 pm on Saturday.The incident took place in the Barkela forest range under Chaibasa Sadar police station area in West Singhbhum district.
The rebels also assaulted the forest guards and their family members during the incidents.� The rebels have also taken along cash and gold ornaments from the staff quarters of the forest guards after assaulting them.
According to police sources, several squads of the CPI-Maoist, including that of Mishir Besra, Ajay Mahto and� Kande Besra had joined to target the forest establishment at the Barkela forest range under Kolhan forest division.
A senior police officer said that armed rebels, including women had barged into a four-storeyed forest-guard staff building at about 10 pm on Saturday and took all the male members under control at gunpoint.
“After damaging the building considerably, they started setting the vehicles one after another. The rebels burnt five four-wheelers and over 15 two-wheelers,” said the police officer.
