Walkathon in Jamshedpur Marks World Autism Awareness Day

Jamshedpur: Nearly 200 people participated in a meaningful walkathon outside Dorabji Tata Park today to observe World Autism Awareness Day. The Aspire Mothers team led the initiative to promote awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for children with autism.


Leaders and Guests Champion the Cause

Chief guest Saryu Roy inaugurated the event, joined by Padmashree awardee Purnima Mahato and patron Purabi Ghosh. The guests praised the talents of special children and commended their mothers for their unwavering dedication and resilience.

During the program, the chief guest honored 20 participants with medals to recognize their enthusiasm for the awareness drive.


Medical Insights and Advocacy

Dr. Manoj Sahu from Tata Main Hospital (TMH) shared valuable insights regarding autism, specifically highlighting:

  • Common symptoms and the necessity of early diagnosis.

  • The critical importance of timely intervention.

  • The need for parents and society to build better support systems.

Dr. Nivedita Kar, a key member of the Aspire Mothers team, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for special children. She emphasized the urgency of creating a safe, dignified environment where these children can reach their full potential.


Community Support

The walkathon drew active participation from Aspire Mothers members, including Dr. Nivedita Kar, Amrita Kultaz, Mamta Padi, Sonali Sarkar, Preeti Sinha, Seema Agrawal, Indrani, and approximately 30 mothers.

Several social and community organizations also lent their support, including:

  • Lions Club and Rotary Club

  • Inner Wheel Club and Young India

  • Utkal Samaj

  • Prajapita Brahma Kumaris
