Manipal Tata Medical College Jamshedpur trains teachers from 33 schools in CPR

Jamshedpur, March 12: In a bid to equip educators with life-saving skills, Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) organized a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training session for teachers under the “Shikshak Prasar Kendra” initiative. The training, held on March 11, 2025, was attended by teachers from 33 schools.

The CPR training program aimed to empower teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively in emergency situations. CPR is a simple yet crucial technique that can help rescue a person even after their heartbeat has stopped, enabling oxygen to circulate throughout the body and assisting in recovery.

The training session was conducted by a team of experts from MTMC, including Dr. Shyamal Maity, Professor and HOD of the Department of Anaesthesia, Dr. Swati Saroha, Dr. Prashant Shahi, Dr. Abhishek Iyer, and Dr. Surabhi. Mr. Kapil Kumar, Officer of Shikshak Prasar Kendra and Tata Motors, introduced the CPR training to the participants.

Certificates of participation were awarded to the teachers by Dr. G. Pradeep Kumar, Dean, Dr. Maheshwar Prasad, Head of Outreach, and Dr. Shyamal Maity.

“This initiative is a testament to our commitment to empowering educators with essential life-saving skills,” said Dr. G. Pradeep Kumar, Dean, MTMC. “We believe that by training teachers in CPR, we can create a safer and more responsive community.”

The CPR training program is part of MTMC’s ongoing efforts to promote health awareness and education in the region.
