Jamshedpur, Jan 12: Mango Municipal Corporation is planning to freeze bank accounts and collect tax from defaulters under its jurisdiction.
The householders, businessmen, building owners, hotel etc who have not paid their tax to the civic body will now be identified and their bank accounts freezed and the total tax amount would be withdrawn from the bank.
This was informed by executive officer of the Mango municipal corporation, Deepak Sahay who said that decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of Jharkhand state urban development department, Project Management Unit Choice Consultancy and tax collection agency Sparrow Softech.
It was found during the meeting that several individuals and businessmen have not paid their holding taxes which is causing immense loss to the state revenue. Some have not even had their self assessment done for determining taxes and it was decided that municipal body would be determining their taxes and if the owners do not pay their taxes then bank account would be freezed and amount deducted from their account.
