Mangla Haat unlikely to start soon in Sakchi

Jamshedpur, August 31: The Mangla Haat (Tuesday market) Footpath Union organized a silent strike in front of the DC office on Monday.

They were quite formal in their approach. Firstly they submitted a petition citing all problems and requirements and then they performed a peaceful protest against the ban on Mangla Haat or Tuesday market.

The problems cited by the union included that for most of the people it is the only means of earning a living for their families.

The wrath of administration has been directed towards the shopkeepers after the curfew. The admin should give a definite deadline within which the decision for the vendors will be decided.

Overruling the decision of the administration the Educated Unemployed Footpath Shopkeepers Association (EUFSA) members still put up stalls in the banned area. The union demanded probe into the membership of 583 shopkeepers.

The probe must be done as soon as possible and the permit to conduct the weekly market must be renewed soon. The people who tried to immolate themselves should be tried according to the law.

Six weeks have passed since the Tuesday market has not convened and no decision in this regard is expected by the administration in near future.
