Ranchi, Sept 11: Governor Draupadi Murmu said that transparency should be brought in University affairs to ensure academics & sort out the problems of the students speedily.

She directed to take up the problems of students, teachers & staff seriously & do the needful without affecting the dignity of the educational institutions. She said it while reviewing the academic & administrative aspects of universities at Raj Bhawan.

The high level meeting consisted Principal Secretary to the Governor Mr. Surendra Singh Meena, Secretary, Higher Education & Technology Department Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh, VCs , Deputy VCs & Financial Counselors & Financial Officers, Registrars & Examination Controllers of Ranchi University, Vinoba Bhave University, Siddo- Kanho Murmu University, Nilamber � Pitamber University & Kolhan University along with Registrar & Examination Controller of Birsa Agriculture University.

Governor said that there is scope for qualitative improvement in higher education which can be brought about with dedication only.

Referring to cognizable matter regarding salary fixation, she said that there is wide variation in the salaries of universities employees which includes payment of salaries under 4th, 5th & 6th pay commission.

She said that retired teachers & staff should be given their pension in time. She suggested the universities to coordinate with higher education & technical department & speed up the process. It was also informed that a joint secretary has been deputed to look into the matter on every working day from 11 am to 1 pm. to sort it out speedily.

The Governor laid stress on bringing about uniformity in the transfer & posting & said that an establishment committee should be formed under the chairmanship of VC with a SC & ST senior professor. She also directed all universities to provide detailed database regarding their number, joining date, subject of teaching & posting positively to the Governor�s office. The Governor asked to do the job of roster clearance seriously for sending requisition.

The Governor said that the allotted funds should be spent in the same heads for which it has been allotted . She directed the universities to provide utility certificates & said that the universities should forward proposal of their requisition to Higher Education & Technology Department so that allotments could be provided in that particular head in time.
