Seraikela, Feb 20: Deputy Commissioner Arava Rajkamal chaired a meeting with committee members to discuss matters pertaining to Chhau Art Centre and organizing the annual Chaitra Parv – 2023.
Regarding the sanctioned six posts of faculty and administration currently being maintained at Chhau Kala Kendra, the proposal for enhancing the number of posts to 15 on contractual basis was discussed in detail. For this enhancement in the number of personnel, it was decided to send a proposal to the effect to the department concerned with point-wise discussion in the proposal.
Discussions on provision of better facilities and improvement of training standards at the Chhau Kala Kendra were taken up for discussions. With Chhau Mahotsav – ’23 round the corner, stress on organizing this festival in a better way was discussed. Nagar Panchayat Vice President Manoj Kumar Chaudhary, MLA representative Sanad Kumar Acharya and other members offered suggestions for strengthening the Chhau Kala Kendra and providing better facilities.
Manoj Kumar Chaudhary proposed that Chhau artistes and Gurus who are recipients of Padma Shri Awards should be honoured, creating additional posts for smoother operation of the Chhau Kala Kendra and for creating additional posts for better operation of the Centre.
Sanad Kumar Acharya suggested that provisions should be made for artistes who have attained national recognition and awards. He said, “Special and attractive publicity should be made for Chhau Mahotsav – 2023. Another point of focus should be on hoardings of Padma Shri awardees living or dead and honouring their families at various points and intersections of the district.”
Acharya also said that special attention should also be on provision of good food and water to the Chhau artistes.
DC Arava Rajkamal announced at the meeting that the Chaitra Mahaparv – 2023 program would commence on April 2 while the closing ceremony would be organized on April 14 at Bhagwan Birsa Munda Stadium. “The main programmes of the Mahotsav between April 11 and 14 would also be organized at the Saraikela Bhagwan Birsa Munda Stadium during which, cultural artistes of the district and surrounding states would present cultural programmes. The DC stated, “There will be a special presence of local artistes of the district along with those from the neighboring states who will participate in the Chhau Mahotsav – ’23. We will ensure that the Mahotsav concludes in a cordial atmosphere amidst local customs and tradition.” Others who participated in this meeting included Deputy Development Commissioner Praveen Kumar Gagrai, Additional Municipal Commissioner Girija Shankar Prasad, ITDA Director Sandeep Kumar Doraiburu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Subodh Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer Seraikela Ramakrishna Kumar, Establishment Deputy Collector Priyanka Singh, District Public Relations Officer Sunil Kumar Singh, Block Development Officer Seraikela , Executive Officer Nagar Panchayat Seraikela and other committee members.
