Gamharia: Gamharia police seized 18 cartons of foreign liquor and cash worth Rs 1.49 lakh from a vehicle during a surprise inspection drive late yesterday night. The vehicle driver Rajendra Choudhary was arrested while another person Mukesh Pundit sitting in the car escaped from the scene.
The superintendent of police, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Indrajeet Mahatha, said cops had got a tip-off about the car, a Sumo Victa, being used by certain people for carrying foreign liquor in an illegal manner through Gamharia.
A police team was sent to Adityapur-Kandra main road for surprise checking. The vehicle was caught during checking.
