Women informed about their rights on day 1 of IGU conference

Jamshedpur, Dec 25: The two day conference of Industrial Global Union(IGU) , Indian women unit kicked off at a hotel in Sakchi on Wednesday, December 25.

The programme was inaugurated by the MP of Jamshedpur Dr Ajay Kumar who was also the chief guest for the occasion. Guest of Honour Lalita Sareen (Educationist) cut a cake in the presence of Rakeshwar Pandey (Coordinator Jharkhand Steel Projects).

As many as 30 women associated with the union are part of the program including 18 delegates from the city while 12 from Seraikela. Women from Kolkata, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Gumla and Hazaribagh are also participating in the programme.

Former Sr. GM of Tata Motors Chandreswar Khan hosted the creative leadership workshop for national development. After the break project coordinator, Industrial South Asia Regional Office, Shahnaz Rafique put light into overall view of Industrial Global Union. Shaliesh Pandey, Gen Sec. (JSMMEU) informed about the union building and group work. Pandey also gave tips on group presentation and discussions. Advocate Sangeeta Jha informed about legal aspects at work place.

Consultant TRF NK Sharma shared light on occupational health safety environment. During the conference, various issues related to the Company Act, trade unions, safety, health and security were discussed during the conference with the purpose to create greater awareness among women.

“Women should also get participation in the decisive committee of the union. This demand will be raised vociferously during the conference.
The women should not be merely taken as donors for the union. During the conference, the women members were informed about their rights.

Earlier, such conferences have been held in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Puri and Nagpur. Several events have been lined up for day 2 of the conference on December 26.
