Light rain expected in north-eastern Jharkhand amid rising temperatures

Jamshedpur: A few isolated places in north-eastern Jharkhand are expected to experience light rain, according to meteorologists. The rainfall is likely to be light and scattered, with no significant impact on day-to-day activities. However, residents should remain alert for sudden weather changes.

Weather experts have attributed the change in weather to a cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan, which has led to the formation of an induced low-pressure area over western Rajasthan. Additionally, an associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 1.5 km above the mean sea level, further influencing the weather patterns in neighboring regions, including Jharkhand.

A low-pressure trough has also developed, stretching from west Rajasthan and adjoining parts of Pakistan to northern Maharashtra through Gujarat at an altitude of 0.9 km above mean sea level. This trough is playing a crucial role in altering wind patterns and causing moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea, leading to cloud formation and light rain in certain areas.

Due to the gradual departure of winter, both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to rise steadily in the coming days. As of now, the minimum temperature in major cities such as Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Daltonganj is hovering between 14-16 degrees Celsius, making early mornings and nights slightly cool but pleasant.

In contrast, Lohardaga and its neighboring areas are experiencing slightly lower temperatures, ranging between 12-13 degrees Celsius. With the sun gaining strength during the daytime, the maximum temperatures in these regions are likely to increase, bringing warmer afternoons.

The rainfall is expected to be short-lived and limited to certain pockets in north-eastern Jharkhand. While it may not disrupt normal life, commuters and farmers should take necessary precautions. As winter departs, a noticeable increase in both day and night temperatures is expected across Jharkhand. This is in line with the seasonal transition towards pre-summer conditions. The moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea may slightly increase humidity levels, leading to a mild discomfort factor, especially in urban areas.
