NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam Paper Leak Claims Are ‘Fake’: NTA

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) and Press Information Bureau (PIB) have dismissed viral social media claims alleging that the question paper for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination was leaked on Telegram. Terming the viral video “fabricated” and “misleading,” authorities confirmed that the high-stakes medical entrance exam was conducted successfully and securely.

PIB Fact Check and the NTA have officially debunked a viral Telegram video claiming the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam question paper was leaked. Authorities have labeled the video “fabricated” and warned of strict legal action against those spreading misinformation to panic students

Key Highlights

  • The Claim: A viral video circulating on social media platforms, including Telegram, claimed the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam paper was leaked before the test.
  • The Verdict: PIB Fact Check officially flagged the video as fake and unfounded.
  • NTA’s Action: The testing agency has warned that creating and spreading such misinformation is a serious offense, and law enforcement agencies are tracking down the creators.
  • The Scale: Over 20 lakh students took the re-test across 5,454 centres globally.

PIB Fact Check Calls Out Misinformation

The clarification came after a video gained massive traction online, causing panic among lakhs of medical aspirants. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the PIB Fact Check Unit categorically rejected the allegations.

“#PIBFactCheck: This claim is FAKE. According to NTA, reports alleging a paper leak are unfounded and false,” the agency stated.

Officials urged the public to remain vigilant and refrain from circulating unverified, alarmist content.

NTA Demands Strict Action Against Miscreants

The National Testing Agency (NTA) issued an independent official statement condemning the fabricated video. The agency emphasized that the re-examination was conducted under comprehensive, multi-layered security and surveillance.

Warning those behind the digital mischief, the NTA stated:

“Manufacturing and deliberately circulating such misinformation to defraud or alarm students is a serious offence. NTA, with the support of I4C (Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre) and law-enforcement agencies, is taking action against those responsible for originating this content.”

The NTA has urged students and parents to rely solely on updates published on the official websites (neet.nta.nic.in) and official NTA social media handles.

Smooth Conduct Amid Previous Controversies

The NEET-UG 2026 cycle has been marred by intense scrutiny following a major uproar over alleged paper leaks last month, which ultimately prompted the NTA to schedule this re-examination.

However, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh confirmed that the re-test went off without a hitch. “The re-test was conducted smoothly across the country with robust security measures and no reports of a question paper leak so far,” Singh stated.

Student Reactions: Physics Proves Tough
