Jamshedpur, July 23: On account of curfew imposed in Jamshedpur, residents faced a lot of problems during the last 2 days.

Right from fetching water from community taps to restacking the groceries, from opening shops to commuting for jobs; numerous such problems is being encountered by the people of the city, especially in Mango.

People freezed at their locations and had to camp there waiting for the curfew to be lifted off. The administration finally paid heed to the problems faced by common man and relaxed the curfew by 2 hours in the morning from 8 am to 10 am.

As soon as the clock struck 8:00, it was a bolt form the blue, people flocked the streets of the market and the Mango chowk in huge numbers.

In an unprecedented situation, people ransacked grocery shops till the stocks were done with. Even general stores, sweet shops, medicine stores and fodder stores were crowded.

The 2 hours which seems ample to the administration were just numbered in the social life. The mob neither seemed disrupted nor showed any signs of communal behaviour, but they were busy banking up food material for their homes.

Although the military personnel were sidelined but administration kept a rather close watch upon the commons. Very soon the deadline was over, roads cleared & curfew reinstated.

All could be seen were vacant racks and empty containers in the shops. However this came upon as a boon for the residents of Mango. It was probably a hot matter for discussion in the neighbourhood.

Contended by the behavioural situation, the administration decided to relax another 3 hours of imposed curfew from 2 pm to 5 pm.

This strategic curfew recess enabled the administration to give lunch break to the deployed forces. They were delivered lunch & water supplies at the Mango chowk.

This time the mob distanced themselves from the streets and only few who missed the previous opportunity got down to the streets.

Still market crawled upwards in the locality. It is expected that the curfew will gradually be lifted off with increasing relaxation time & schools will remain closed for the weekend.

Hope that people will not get involved in such misdeeds in future, as for few we all suffer, said a Mango shop owner.
