Tata Steel kicks off Productivity Week

Jamshedpur, Feb 12: Tata Steel kicked off Productivity Week celebrations by observing Productivity Day today. This year’s theme is “Self-Reliance through Productivity”.

Tata Steel has been celebrating Productivity Week in February for the past several years in line with National Productivity Council. This Week is celebrated to sensitize the organisation and to create awareness among employees on the importance of productivity improvement.

The formal programme of Productivity Week 2022 was virtually inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President Corporate Services, Tata Steel and Guest of Honour, Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President Tata Worker’s Union.

Chanakya Chaudhary said lessons taught by the pandemic COVID-19 should not be forgotten as it highlighted the areas where improvement was needed. He emphasised on keeping those insights in mind, work on them to identify the factors which can take the company forward. How efficient and productive we are is the question that can only be answered when the business cycles are down, he added.  

In his address, Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary highlighted the importance of current need for productivity improvement in Tata Steel due to Globalization and Competitive markets compared to the scenario 25-30 years ago. He also emphasized on improvement in operational efficiency.

A conference on the theme is planned involving experts from industries on February 14, 2022. Sunil Kumar, Sr. Director & Global Head – Digital Transformation, Operational Excellence & Culture Transformation, Cipla and Aniruddha Ganguly, Founder & MD, EuMatter Consulting, Ex. Executive Director, Group Corporate Development, GMR are invited to be the keynote speakers for the event.

Various initiatives such as productivity contests among the Divisions on Best Productivity Improvement project, Online Quiz, Video Making Competition will be organised centrally throughout the organisation.

Initiatives such as slogan-poem, poster-essay are also being organised in out-locations to sensitize and create awareness among the employees on the importance of productivity improvement.

Productivity Week 2022 will conclude with the valedictory function on February 18, 2022.
