Leadership development training for adolescent girls at Potka

Jamshedpur, April 22: Youth Unity for Voluntary Action (YUVA), a social organization, in association with Girls’ First Fund conducted a two-day leadership development camp for adolescent girls in Potka block. Held at the TRC Training Center in Chaandi, the program aimed to empower young girls under the ‘Bal Vivah Roko’ program.

Led by Project Coordinator Jyoti Hembram, the training focused on several objectives, including empowering adolescent girls to advocate for their rights, raising awareness about patriarchy and gender stereotypes, and honing leadership skills such as effective communication and problem-solving.

The activities encompassed discussions on patriarchy and gender stereotypes, identifying and fostering leadership qualities, enhancing communication skills, problem-solving techniques, and learning through drama and games. Participants engaged in issue identification and prioritization exercises.

The impact of the training was expected to be significant, empowering adolescent girls in Potka block to recognize their abilities and rights. Equipped with newfound leadership skills, they would be better positioned to effect positive changes in their communities, particularly in combating social issues like child marriage.
