Jamshedpur, Oct. 26: The festive season that commenced with Ganesh Chaturthi is far from over.

Though Durga Puja and Navaratri celebration have come and gone, there is no end to celebrations.

Members of the Bengali community in the city and adjoining areas celebrated Lakshmi Puja on Monday and the rituals will continue even on Tuesday, till the purnima lasts.

The occasion is marked by ceremonial homage paid to Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth. According to the Hindu mythology, Goddess Laxmi manifests wealth and prosperity, Thus, she is worshipped in almost every Hindu home.

Usually, most Hindu families celebrate Laxmi Puja during the Diwali festival, but Bengalis worship Goddess Lakshmi on this particular day.

Unlike Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja is performed at home, with neighbouring families and friends coming together and praying to the Goddess for her blessings.
