Jamshedpur, Dec 4: As part of the ‘Saksham Bharat’ CSR project, Lafarge India announced the launch of an employability program for women at Sarzamda Jamshedpur.
Present on the occasion were Rajkumar Singh, Member of the Zilla Parishad along with Mukhia, Members of Panchayat Samity and Ramesh Warke VP Jojobera Cement Plant.
Under this initiative, Lafarge has donated muri-making machines to Asha Kiran Mahila Samity, a woman self help group based out of Shankerpur, Sarzamda.
This self-help group consists of ten women working together to generate additional income to support their families. To support their efforts, Lafarge sourced the muri making machines from IIT Kharagpur and provided it to Asha Kiran Mahila Samity.
Lafarge will also arrange for the technical training for the women to operate these machines.
Rajkumar Singh, Member of Zilla Parishad thanked Lafarge for supporting the Samity. He opined that this venture will be beneficial for the ladies, as muri is popular among the people of the area and is often bought from the market. The members of the Samity will now be able to produce and market muri and gain financially.
Ramesh Warke, VP JCP Lafarge India said, “Lafarge India has been involved in undertaking different projects in the areas of health, education and employability.
Our mason-training program has successfully helped many youths start their career. We hope this initiative will also benefit the ladies and they will be able to support their families financially.”
