Jamshedpur, Dec 4: In the backdrop of growing concern among the denizens over rising crime graph the district police has announced multiple measures to curb the crime.
From intensifying midnight patrolling to thorough checking of the vehicles 24×7, the police has launched an apparent effective drive to control the criminals and miscreants out on the street to prey the peace loving denizens of the industrial town.
With two-weeks into his new assignment, the senior police superintendent, Amol V Homkar realized patrolling is a potent tool in controlling the crime and instilling confidence among the common people.
“Tight checking of the vehicles and intensified patrolling at night hours and beyond will help the police in controlling the crime (to an extent),” said the SSP. He has warned the officials concerned that let-up in vehicle checking drive will cost them dear.
He has also said that the strength of the revamped tiger mobile squad will be enhanced to make it easily approachable to the potential victims.
The 88-member Tiger mobile squad, armed with 44 remodelled bikes and equipped with AK-47/ carbines and communicable gadgets, will move frequently in the by-lanes and peripheries throughout the day and night.
“Apart from being available to the victim at the first call it is also the duty of the mobile squad to keep eye on the suspects and inform the nearest police station quickly (on witnessing any suspicious activity),” said a deputy superintendent police adding that mobile number of the respective mobile squad is mentioned clearly on the front and rear end of the motorcycle.
The district police, under the stewardship of the SSP, announced opening reception centers in all the police stations so that the complainants visiting the respective police station is received warmly by the reception personnel.
The reception center that will operate like a front office of the corporate houses shall provide conducive atmosphere and good ambiance to the complainants to seek redress of their grievances.
In the last few weeks, incidents of gunshot, murder, cash loot and burglary has witnessed sharp increase in the city and its periphery.
