L Khiangte to head Jharkhand Public Service Commission

Ranchi, February 27: The Jharkhand government has finally filled the post of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairperson which was lying vacant for a long time.

The Hemant government has approved the name of senior IAS officer and former chief secretary L Khiangte for this post.

 On Thursday, the Raj Bhavan approved the proposal of the state government and issued a notification.

It is expected that this will speed up the appointment process and all the examinations will be conducted on the scheduled date.

The post of JPSC chairman was vacant for the last six months. Due to this, the appointment process was stuck on a large scale.

The candidates giving competitive examination were constantly agitating for the appointment of JPSC chairman.

Dumri MLA Jairam Mahato also raised this issue in the House. The opposition was constantly attacking the government. After the appointment of the chairman, now a new calendar will be issued.

Chief Secretary L Khiangte is originally from Mizoram. He joined the All India Administrative Service (IAS) in the year 1988 after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in history. He has also been the DM of Buxar district during the time of unified Bihar.

Apart from Tribal Welfare Commissioner, he has also been the Tribal Welfare Secretary. For a long time, he was also posted as Secretary in the Building Construction Department. He also has experience of working as the Controller of Examinations of Jharkhand Competitive Examination Board.
