Kolhan University Renames Vocational Courses, Opens Chancellor Portal for 2026 Admissions

Jamshedpur: Kolhan University has renamed two of its vocational courses and commenced the admission process for undergraduate and vocational programmes for the upcoming academic session. The decision is aimed at aligning academic programmes with contemporary educational and professional requirements.

The university administration believes that the revised course names will provide greater clarity regarding the subjects and improve students’ prospects in higher education and employment.

Two courses get new names

According to a notification issued by the university, the “Mass Communication and Video Production” course offered at Karim City College has been renamed “Journalism and Mass Communication.”

Similarly, the “B.Sc. (Environment and Water Management)” programme will now be known as “B.Sc. Environmental Science.”

University officials stated that the new nomenclature better reflects the scope and content of the courses while bringing them in line with prevailing academic standards and industry expectations.

Chancellor Portal opens for admissions

The university has also announced the commencement of the admission process for the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) for the 2026-30 academic session and vocational courses for the 2026-29 session.

As per the decision of the university’s admission committee, the Chancellor Portal will remain open from June 16 to July 5, 2026, allowing eligible candidates to submit their applications online.

Application fee reduced to ₹25

In a move aimed at benefiting students, the university has substantially reduced the application fee from ₹100 to ₹25. The decision was taken under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Anjila Gupta.

University officials said the fee reduction is intended to make the admission process more accessible and affordable for students from diverse backgrounds.

Candidates have been encouraged to apply to multiple colleges through the portal to improve their chances of securing admission in their preferred subjects.

APAAR ID recommended for applicants

The university administration has advised all applicants to use their APAAR ID while filling out admission forms through the Chancellor Portal. Students who do not possess an APAAR ID have been advised to generate one using their Aadhaar card before completing their applications.
