Kolhan University to focus on developing sports infrastructure


Jamshedpur, April 20: Buoyed by the success of Chancellor’s Trophy, Kolhan University has decided to seek suggestion from its sports person to improve the sports infrastructure of the university.

The varsity, which was crowned the overall champions in archery (men and women combined) as well as in both men’s and women’s basketball organised as a part of the Inter University Chancellor’s Trophy will give its students chance to develop sports culture.

Vice-chancellor R.P.P. Singh said that they have decided to meet sportsperson to discuss the development of sports infrastructure in the university and colleges. Students have been given some time to think about their requirements and put it forward to the vice-chancellor.

“We are happy with our students performance. The vice-chancellor has decided to ask students what kind of infastructure they would need to develop the sports culture in colleges and to regularly practice different sports,” said A.K. Jha, the proctor cum spokesperson for Kolhan University.

On the occasion, he said that the government intends to develop and promote sports in a big way in the State. Plans were afoot to construct at least one stadium in each Assembly constituency. The government has also plans to develop as many as 3,000 sports grounds in schools, he said.

The university has also decided to develop sports ground where students can regularly practice. However, the grounds will be developed in a place which would be convenient and preferred by students of the university.

“Sports is a very essential for personality development and so the university has decided to support its sports person in all possible way.

We are proud of our students who have performed extremely well in the inter university events,” said an official.On the occasion, he said that even the government intends to develop and promote sports in a big way in the State.
