Kolhan University celebrates fifth foundation day

Jamshedpur : Kolhan University and the 25 constituent and affiliated colleges under it celebrated its foundation day with fervour. The university, which was established on August 12, 2009, completed four years with a number of achievements.

The Kolhan University at Chaibasa in West Singhbhum organised a function to celebrate the day. Vice-chancellor R.P.P. Singh was the chief guest on the occasion along with other officials and staff present to celebrate the day. Students of five colleges– Mahila College, Chaibasa; Jamshedpur Workers’ College, LBSM College and Graduate School College for Women, Tata College, Chaibasa; presented a cultural programme.

�We have had a good year by far and now we will focus on more new initiatives. Our priority will be to come up with more courses in the university and an infrastructure for the same,� said vice chancellor of the university.

Cultural programmes were also organised at the Graduate School College for Women and ABM College.

The Kolhan University was established on August 13, 2009 with 14 Constituent Colleges and 12 Affiliated Colleges in geographical jurisdiction of East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharswan District with more than 80,000 students strength.

The university is in the area of tribal region. Apart from conventional courses in UG and PG level including medical/ dental/ engineering/ law/ management/ education following vocational courses are running under the university.

The Jamshedpur Workers’ College too organised a short function where former registrar of Kolhan University, K.C. Dey was the chief guest.

LBSM College in Karandih too organised an extempore competition and a rangoli competition at their college premises. Other colleges too organised various programmes to celebrate the foundation day of the university.
