
West Bokaro, June 27: Creating awareness on new agricultural techniques, Tata Steel at West Bokaro organised a dedicated workshop called �Kisaan Vaarta� for regional farmers at Sports Ground, Mukundabera. More than 250 farmers in and around West Bokaro operational areas participated in the programme.
Anurag Dixit, Chief (Quarry South East), Tata Steel, West Bokaro inaugurated the programme along with Mahesh Prasad, President, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh, Kailash Gope, Secretary, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh, Debdoot Mohanty, Head, CSR, Jharkhand, Tata Steel, Praveen Kumar Sinha, Chief HRM, Tata Steel (West Bokaro) , Sarita Devi, Vice President , Zila Parishad, Ramgarh, Chandramani Devi, Pramukh, Mandu and Mr Keshav Ranjan, Unit Head, Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS), West Bokaro.
To revive the interest among regional farmers and to disseminate the latest technical know-how to farmers, enhance their knowledge on crop techniques and help them to increase productivity, Tata Steel organised a one-day Farmer-Scientist interface. Scientists and experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), ICAR-RCER, Mandu and Hazaribagh along with officials of NABARD organised the sessions. Topics covered in the programme mainly focussed on new technology in vegetable cultivation, improved practices in paddy cultivation, benefits of kitchen garden and mushroom cultivation.
The objective of the programme was to sensitise the local farmers on understanding agriculture as a growing enterprise, scientific understanding of agriculture growth, crop-diversification in existing places, knowledge sharing on the best farming practices, awareness on government schemes and to provide a platform for organic farming. More than 250 farmers from in and around West Bokaro participated in the capacity building programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Dixit said, �Technology has changed the way we work today. Mix of right technology with right crop at the right time can help enhance the productivity massively. Though Kisaan Vaarta, we want to create a platform for smart farming, thereby creating a better tomorrow for all.�
Present on the occasion were Dr Dushyant Kumar Raghav (Expert, Plant Protection), In-Charge, PC & SMS, KVK, Ramgarh, Dr Indrajeet (Agriculture Extension), SMS, KVK, Ramgarh, Dineshwar Rai (Livestock Production & Management Expert), KVK, Hazaribagh and Upendra Kumar Sah, District Development Manager, NABARD, Ramgarh along with Tata Steel executives, union officials , PRIs members and officials from Tata Steel Rural Development Society.
