Jamshedpur: Team Khunti (11 Points) were crowned the champions of the Zonal level (Chaibasa) Chief Minister Invitational Football Cup organised by Jharkhand government’s tourism, art, culture, sports and youth affairs dept under the aegis of East Singhbhum district administration, played at Armoury Ground.
The three-day tournament saw participation of six districts of Chaibasa Region (Zonal)- East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Gumla, Khunti, Simdega and Seraikela-Kharsawan. Team Serakiela-Kharsawan with 10 points emerged as the runners-up, East Singhbhum scored 8 points to remain at the third place followed by West Singhbhum (7 points), Gulma (4 points) and Simdega (1 Point).

The best player of the tournament was bagged by Ramesh Hembram of Serakiela-Kharsawan who scored 4 goals. Chief Guest for the prize distribution ceremony was East Singhbhum DC Amit Kumar, ITDA project officer Vishwanath Maheshwari, Tata Steel Sports department head Ashish Kumar, Avinash Kumar and Hassan Imam who awarded the trophies to the winners.
The guests wishing the teams luck for the future matches handed over kit to the players. Also present during the event were Deepak Bhalotia from Jamshedpur Bazar Samiti district sports officer Kumari Anita Karketta, Red Cross Society’s Ashok Singh and others were present. The winners and the runners-up team will participate in the state level competition at will have to report at Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi on Tuesday, November 7. The tournament’s league matches concluded with Chhau dance presented by the artists from Serakiela.
