Kharagpur Rail administration’s notice to political parties

Kharagpur, April 17: The Kharagpur Railway Administration has issued notices to multiple political parties for unauthorized occupation of railway land in the Kharagpur Railway Colony. This move came as part of a broader initiative to eliminate encroachments on railway property.

According to officials, 21 offices of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC), 12 offices of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 2 offices of the Congress Party, and 1 office of the CPI(M) were operating without authorization on railway land.

District in-charges have been instructed to vacate these premises within 15 days. Failure to comply would result in action under the Indian Railways Act, 1989, the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 1971, and the Indian Railways Works Manual (IRWM), the notice stated.

The railway authorities emphasized that encroachment on government property would not be tolerated and that the land would be reclaimed as per legal provisions.
