Para Teacher murdered in Naxal-affected Bandgaon Forest

Chakradharpur, April 18: A para teacher was found murdered in the Naxal-affected Harsing Kocha forest under the Tebo police station area of Bandgaon block in West Singhbhum district. The victim, 57-year-old Sanika Topno of Pingu village, was working at Lowahatu Primary School.

According to sources, Topno left home for school on Wednesday as usual but never returned. After an unsuccessful search by his family on Thursday, a missing person report was filed at Tebo police station. That same evening, police discovered a body in the Harsing Kocha forest, later identified as that of Topno. His head and face appeared to have been crushed with stones.

The post-mortem was conducted on Friday at Chakradharpur Subdivision Hospital. Police officials noted that recovering the body was challenging due to the area’s rough terrain and Naxal presence. A detailed investigation was underway to determine the motive and identify the culprits behind the murder.
