Jamshedpur, Sep 11: An awareness session on increasing career scope and social entrepreneurship in the field of social development was organised by the Innovation Council of Karim City College at the college auditorium.
Amit Sinha and Madhulika Singh, directors of the city’s social enterprise Koru Foundation, and program coordinator Deepak Soni participated in this event.
This organization is working in the field of Waste Management and Menstrual Hygiene. About 300 students of the college took part in this program.
At the beginning of the program, Dr Neha Tiwari, the coordinator of the Innovation Council of the college, acquainted the students with the objectives of the Innovation Council. Describing startups and entrepreneurship as the need of the hour, he said that instead of taking jobs, now is the time to create the ability to create jobs. Dr G Vijayalakshmi, Senior Faculty of Commerce Department introduced the students to Social Entrepreneurship. In his detailed address, he explained how the stream of development can flow when the corporate, government and society all three work together. Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Dr. Mohammad Riaz, Principal of the college emphasized on sustainable development. He said that if we are aware of the problems, then surely we will also think about the solutions and from here the path of social entrepreneurship will emerge. Dr. Aftab Alam of the Commerce Department, who is conducting the program, introduced the director of the Koru Foundation and invited him on the stage. Giving information about the 17 development goals given by the United Nation, Shri Amit Sinha told how students can work on Waste Management, Health and Hygiene. He said that keeping the direction of development according to nature and human being is the first step towards saving their existence and it is the responsibility of all of us. Especially students should come forward for this. For this reason communication with college students is essential. This was followed by the vote of thanks by Dr. Ale Ali, Member of the Innovation Council. In this program, Dr. Tufail Ahmed, Member of the Innovation Council and Dr. Nazri, Chairman, Department of Commerce welcomed the guests with a bouquet. NCC Coordinator Dr. Fakhruddin and English Nature Doctor Das were present in the program. All the students were sent off with certificates. Dr. Zahid Parvez, Syed Sajid and Syed Shahzeb Parvez, Bapi Murmu, Jagriti Bahl, Avant Bharadwaj, Tushar Gupta and Aman played an important role in making the program a success.
