Ranchi, Sept. 29: Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Dr Dinesh Oraon today awarded BB Sahay Memorial Trophy and a cash prize of Rs 14,000 to Police Inspector cum Officer In-charge of Kadma PS Animesh Gupta for conducting Best Scientific Investigation of crime.
Gupta was awarded during a function organized on the premises of Jharkhand Armed Police I headquarters. He received the award for his outstanding performance in cracking the case of murder of a woman in a quarter at Tansa Road under Kadma PS. The wife of one Kartik Ram was found killed in the quarter on 28th June last. She was stabbed on her neck and stomach.
The case (PS Case Number 115/16) was solved by employing latest forensic techniques. Cops had collected various evidences from the crime scene including swab and fingerprints. The swab contained sperm of the accused. On a DNA analysis, the sample collected from the scene matched with the DNA of the accused.
The fingerprints of the accused also matched with the fingerprints taken from the crime scene. This led police to arrest Vinay Kumar alias Beenu from Sonari.
The accused had eaten biscuits in the drawing room of the quarter before killing the woman with a kitchen knife. The accused had also looted two mobile phones from the house and threw the death weapon in river Kharkai under the Adityapur Toll Bridge.
He also threw his blood-stained trouser near Beldih Golf Course.
