Jamshedpur : JVM activists led by its central secretary Abhay Singh staged a demonstration at Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee ( JNAC) in protest against the rising corruption. He said that by the civic body is gripped with corrupt practices and people have no choice but to give bribe to the authorities in order to receive birth and death certificates from JNAC.
The party also alleged foul play in the recent initiative of the civic body in awarding over 100 contracts for development projects, alleging that several contractors with poor track records had been chosen.
The party activists who sat on the dharna-cum-demonstration for about five hours from 9 am opposed the proposed projects worth Rs 7 crore saying that large scale corruption is being involved. The projects for which recent contracts were awarded include construction of roads, drains, boundary walls and installation of street lighting systems.
