Justice after 24 years: Illegal building demolished in Jamshedpur encroachment case

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, March 9: In a major anti-encroachment action, the district administration on Monday began demolishing an illegally constructed building in Das Basti under Sonari police station area, following a court order that brought an end to a prolonged 24-year legal battle.
The dispute was linked to a piece of land belonging to Binod Das and his family, on which a builder had allegedly constructed a building without the consent of the rightful owner.
The matter remained under litigation in the Jamshedpur court for nearly two and a half decades before the court finally ruled in favour of the landowner.

Demolition Amid Tight Security

To ensure compliance with the court’s directive, the administration deployed a large contingent of police personnel and magistrates at the site.
The demolition team initiated the process of vacating the premises and removing the illegal structure.
With strict security arrangements in place, any potential resistance from individuals supporting the builder was effectively contained, allowing authorities to proceed with the lawful restoration of the land to its rightful owner.

Objections Dismissed During Action

During the operation, a few other claimants surfaced, alleging discrepancies in the government land measurement and arguing that their property was being wrongly cleared.
However, officials dismissed these objections, stating that the action was being carried out strictly in accordance with the court’s order.

Strong Message to Land Mafia

The case serves as a strong warning to land mafias and unscrupulous builders who attempt to occupy private land through illegal construction.
For the Das family, the verdict marks the end of a long struggle and brings long-awaited relief, reaffirming that although justice may take time, the rule of law ultimately prevails.
