Jamshedpur, March 9: The gates of Jubilee Park reopened to the public on Sunday after remaining closed for 16 days due to Founder’s Day celebrations and the grand illumination display. The Park had been shut to facilitate preparations and manage the large crowds expected to witness the decorative lighting organised around the annual celebrations of Tata Steel.
Originally, the Park was scheduled to reopen on March 7. However, the management decided to extend the lighting display by an additional day in view of the festive spirit surrounding Holi, allowing more visitors to enjoy the colourful illumination. As a result, the gates were finally reopened on March 9 after the decorations and lighting structures were dismantled.
The reopening has brought much-needed relief to commuters. For nearly two weeks, the closure of the main road passing through the Park caused heavy traffic congestion on Straight Mile Road and nearby routes. Motorists travelling between Bistupur, Kadma and Sonari faced long delays and frequent traffic snarls.
With the completion of the removal of lighting installations by Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited, normal traffic movement has now been restored. Morning walkers and daily commuters have welcomed the move, as the Park’s internal road has once again become accessible, easing travel and improving connectivity across the city.
