Jamshedpur, Aug. 12: Over the past several years, the idea of the being �Smart� has emerged as a key mechanism for cities to find sustainable and innovative solutions to the challenges that they are facing. These solutions are developed through sustained environmental intervention combined with full use of the possibilities the digitalization of the society has given us. This means enabling the technology to gather data, which can be used by the technology itself in order to adapt to the most sustainable and smart behaviour.
The Asian Smart Cities Awards 2017 recognized pioneering projects designed to make cities more liveable, sustainable and economically viable.
Businesses, entrepreneurs, research hubs, non-governmental organizations and public or private consortiums pitch their innovative smart city strategies and solutions to transform our cities in the field of technology, energy, governance, sustainability and mobility.
Applicants were invited with impressive projects that use new innovative technology to engage citizens, increase efficiency, empower sustainability, generate business and improve quality of life. On 2nd August 2017, CMO Asia organized its 8th edition of CMO Asia Smart Cities Awards 2017 in Sentosa, Singapore. JUSCO won the awards for “Best City for Integrated Planning” and “Best Smart City Initiative”. The awards were received by Capt. Dhananjay Mishra, Sr. General Manager (Jamshedpur Town Operations) and Ayan Lahiri, Executive Officer to MD, JUSCO.
JUSCO has always been a pioneer in the field of developing integrated smart-city solutions. Various initiatives which helped JUSCO bag these awards are- Integrated Control & Command Centre with LoRaWAN gateway for city management services � First of its kind in India, Zero Liquid Discharge(ZLD) within city limits � First of its kind in India, Packaged Sewage Treatment Plant (PSTP) � for recycling of sewage, Geographical Information System (GIS) � for management of underground utilities, Biogas plants � for recycling of food waste and Rain Water Harvesting, Drip irrigation and Recharge Pits � for water conservation.
