Jugsalai Municipal Council: ₹2 Crore FSTP Plant to be Set Up in Ghaghidih

 Jamshedpur: A comprehensive plan has been finalized for waste management in Jugsalai. Under this initiative, a Fecal Sludge Treatment Plan (FSTP) will be set up in Ghaghidih. The required land has already been transferred to the Jugsalai Municipal Council.

The plant, to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹2 crores, will have a processing capacity of six kiloliters. It will facilitate the effective disposal of fecal sludge (waste extracted from septic tanks) at a local level.

Key Highlights of the Waste Management Plan:

• Clearing Mahakaleshwar Ghat: The dumping yard at Mahakaleshwar Ghat is now full. It will be cleared out, and the collected waste will be sent to Adityapur for recycling and proper disposal through a specialized agency.
• Fencing Vulnerable Spots: 14 locations along the roadsides in Jugsalai where garbage is frequently dumped have been identified as “vulnerable spots.” These areas are being fenced off to prevent people from throwing garbage there under any circumstances.
• Three-Day Cleanliness Drive: A specialized system has been put in place for a 3-day continuous door-to-door garbage collection and evening cleaning drive within the Jugsalai Municipal Council area to combat rising summer heat concerns.
• Strict Penalties: Fines and legal provisions are being strictly implemented for those caught littering in public spaces.
