Gunfire Over Personal Dispute Triggers Panic in Jamshedpur’s Namda Basti  

Jamshedpur: Tension gripped Namda Basti under the Golmuri police station area after a firing incident linked to a personal dispute was reported on Tuesday night. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, though panic spread across the locality following the sound of gunfire.

According to police sources, the incident took place in Block A, Line No. 04 of Namda Basti at around 8:15 PM.

Dispute Allegedly Rooted in Drug Addiction

Complainant Aman Singh informed police that he had been trying to keep his younger brother, Vicky Singh, away from drugs and bad company. He alleged that Vicky had been associating with Veer Singh, also known as “Pandit,” a resident of the same locality.

Aman claimed he had repeatedly stopped his brother from meeting Veer Singh due to his alleged involvement in undesirable activities and substance abuse. The dispute reportedly intensified on May 25 when Veer Singh allegedly abused and assaulted Vicky Singh.

Accused Allegedly Fired With Intent to Kill

According to the complaint, Veer Singh alias Pandit arrived near Aman Singh’s residence on a motorcycle on Tuesday evening. At the time, Aman’s mother, Raj Kaur, was sitting outside the house.

The accused allegedly pulled out a pistol and fired a shot with the intention of killing someone at the spot. However, the bullet did not hit anyone, preventing what could have turned into a major tragedy.

Accused Escapes Before Locals Gather

Hearing the gunshot, residents rushed out of their homes, but the accused had already fled the area before locals could catch him. Witnesses claimed that while escaping, the accused shouted threats directed at Aman Singh.

Following the incident, Aman Singh approached the Golmuri police station and appealed to police officials for protection, expressing fear for the safety of his family and property.

Police Launch Investigation

Police have registered the matter and initiated an investigation into the firing incident. Efforts are reportedly underway to trace and apprehend the accused.

The incident has once again raised concerns over rising criminal activities and the alleged influence of drug-related disputes in residential localities of the steel city.
