JUSCO School South Park hosts three-day event, 250 students participating
Jamshedpur, Jan 11: JOGGA Inter School Chess Championship hosted by JUSCO School South Park (JSSP) commenced today at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
The three-day championship was inaugurated by Anand Menezes, Olympian and Senior Chief coach at Tata Steel Sports Department in the presence of Jiju Thomas, Senior Manager JEM Foundation.
250 students representing 25 schools from across the city are participating.
School Principal Mili Sinha addressing the gathering said that the game of chess is coupled with Maths and if children apply the principles of this game in their academic pursuits, they are sure to emerge as winners and flag bearers of excellence.
This was followed by a melodious song performance by the school choir and a dance by the senior girls of the school.

Anand Menezes in his address to the budding Chess players said that Chess is a Mind Game and it requires consistent performance through focus and practice, combined with passion and determination to do well. He said that students should explore their talents and must adopt sport in their life.
Firoz Khan, Senior Sports Administrator, Tata Steel Sports Department and Vivek Sharma, Senior Badminton Coach, Tata Steel Sports Department was also present. The arbitrators and officials from the East Singhbhum Chess Association under the guidance Jayant Kumar Bhuyan were also felicitated for their guidance to conduct the event.
The program was coordinated by Gurmeet Kaur , Vice Principal, Tami Sikdar, Senior School Coordinator and Vijeta Panda, Junior School Coordinator of JUSCO School South Park.
