Felicitates nine women during Mahila Samman Samaroh
Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) organized �Mahila Samman Samaroh�, a felicitation ceremony for women, at Town Hall, Sidhgora, on Saturday. As many as 130 women were gifted sewing machines on behalf of JNAC as a motivation to start their own enterprise. Nine women representing different professions were also felicitated on the occasion. They included Jamuna Tudu, Aruna Mishra, Kalyani Kabir, Anni Amrita, Poonam Mahanand and Antara Bose. More than 300 women were present during the event.
The chief guest of the programme was the MP of Jamshedpur Bidyut Baran Mahato. Other distinguished guests included the Jharkhand State Women�s Commission president Kalyani Sharan, East Singhbhum DC Amit Kumar and SSP Anoop T Mathew.
In his address, the MP said the state government was implementing a number of schemes to empower women and girls in Jharkhand. He said the government wanted to make the women skilled and self-employed. He said the government was promoting entrepreneurship among women. He wished the people of Jamshedpur on Bhai Dooj.
Kalyani Sharan, addressing the gathering, said sewing machines would prove to be a great gift to the women on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. She said all women beneficiaries should utilize their wisdom, energy and money to brighten their future. She said the government was doing every bit to empower the womenfolk.
The DC congratulated the beneficiaries and iterated the district administration�s commitment to empower all women and ensure their safety and prosperity.
The special officer of JNAC Sanjay Kumar said the sewing machines were given to the beneficiaries under the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM). The beneficiaries have got skill training, he said.
Among others present on the occasion included Pawan Agrawal, representative of Jamshedpur East MLA, and Chitranjan Verma, representative of Jamshedpur West MLA.
